GIRLS UNIFORM - Ballet and Tap All pupils can attend lessons for a term in whatever clothes are suitable for the class (no jewelry please). Uniform is then encouraged, but not compulsory, but please ensure that girls have their hair tied up to avoid it falling into the eyes when dancing. All items of uniform can be bought through the school at discounted prices and there is normally a good stock of secondhand leotards and shoes at half price or less. No child will be turned away if they do not have uniform and many items can be hired at exam time if necessary. Melody Bear Classes / Prep Ballet and Tap - Lilac leotard with attached skirt, pink ballet shoes and socks. Optional pink cardigan or Samara T-Shirt. Black tap shoes Primary to Grade 1 Ballet and Tap - Plum leotard with matching plum circular skirt, pink ballet socks, pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes . Optional plum cardigan or Samara T-Shirt. Grade 2 to Grade 4 - Plum leotard with plum wrap skirt, ballet tights (or socks) pink ballet shoes. Black tap shoes. Optional plum cardigan or Samara T-Shirt. Black jazz pants can be worn for tap from grade 2 onwards, either with a black or plum leotard or Samara T-Shirt. Grade 5 and above - Black leotard, pink ballet tights, pink ballet shoes. Optional black skirt which is not allowed to be worn in exams. Optional Samara T-Shirt Basic pink leather ballet shoes are suitable for all grades however pupils in grades 4 and above may prefer the professional split sole canvas shoe which enhances the shape of the foot The new canvas tap shoe comes complete with fitted heel taps and non slip sole and is suitable for all grades. However, pupils in grade 3 and above are encouraged to use a more professional shoe, which has clearer sounding taps and will enhance the sound of the tapping. BOYS UNIFORM - Ballet and Tap Boys may wear dark shorts and white boys leotard or white school T-shirt in the lower grades with white socks and black ballet or tap shoes. Older boys may wear dark trousers or cycle shorts although tights are required for those working on grade 3 ballet and above. If you wish to order uniform items please click on the link. For new items, please complete the form by circling sizes required (don't forget to fill in school shoe size!) and return it to me with a cheque. If you would like me to look for second hand items, make a note next to the item ordered, pay the amount for the new item and I will refund the difference if I find a suitable second hand item instead (Cheque payable to The Samara Ballet School). Please note: I only place an order every 2 weeks so you may have a delay if I don't have the item in stock. If you would like me to try and sell your outgrown uniform, please return it to me in a named bag.
