Uniform

Unlike other dance schools we do not insist that pupils are kitted out in full school uniform before they know if they're even going to enjoy the classes.

However, hopefully they will find that dance is fun and will want to stay, at which point parents will want to order uniform. You can do this online by following this link.

Girls' Uniform - Ballet, Tap, Modern and Theatre Craft

All pupils can attend lessons for a term in whatever clothes are suitable for the class (no jewellery please). Uniform is then encouraged, but not compulsory, but please ensure that girls have their hair tied up to avoid it falling into the eyes when dancing.  All items of uniform can be bought through the school at discounted prices and there is normally a good stock of second-hand leotards and shoes at half price or less. No child will be turned away if they do not have uniform and many items can be hired at exam time if necessary.

From September 2011

The same 'Mulberry' leotard is worn throughout the school from age 2 onwards. Melody Bear, Prep and Primary Grades have a matching Mulberry skirt. From Grade 1 onwards Mulberry stirrup leggings can be worn (Seniors will require ballet tights at exam times).

Pink crossover cardigans or black 'Samara Ballet' sweatshirts are also available.

New photographs will be loaded on to this site soon to illustrate items of the new uniform.

Grade 4

Pupils in Grade 4 and above may opt for the black leotard, black leggings and/or pink ballet tights.

Shoes

Basic pink leather ballet shoes are suitable for all grades however pupils in Grades 4 and above may prefer the professional split sole canvas shoe which enhances the shape of the foot

The new tap shoe comes complete with fitted heel taps and non slip sole and is suitable for all grades.

However, pupils in Grade 3 and above are encouraged to use a more professional shoe, which has clearer sounding taps and will enhance the sound of the tapping.

Boys' Uniform - Ballet and Tap

Younger boys may wear dark shorts and white boys leotard or white school T-shirt in the lower grades with white socks and black ballet or tap shoes. Older boys are encouraged to wear the black boys 'unitard' for both class work and exams from Grade 1 upwards.
